Internationalism
A global outlook for every MMIS student
A Global Outlook
At MMIS, we recognise that our students are entering a world that is increasingly global — one where economies are interdependent and communication crosses borders every day. We’re committed to building English proficiency, cultural harmony, academic engagement, and international understanding in every student, whether they join us for a term or for their whole school life. Our aim is simple: every student should reach their personal best in a safe, welcoming environment, and leave equipped to thrive in a globalised world.
This global outlook runs through our students’ attitudes and values, our curriculum, and the international ethos of our school community. Through collaborative projects with partner schools abroad — email and internet exchanges, visits from international guests, student exchange programmes, and joint work on environmental and global issues — we help students build social, moral, and cultural awareness while preparing them for the future.
Our international ethos centres on celebrating the multiculturalism of our own school and wider community, respecting different cultures and beliefs, and understanding how global events shape daily life. We encourage regular contact with young people in other countries, active engagement with environmental issues, thoughtful use of technology to connect globally, and a strong commitment to equal opportunity and citizenship — with our own students’ diverse backgrounds providing a daily source of learning.
When students from our partner schools join us during exchange visits, it creates some of the most memorable experiences of a student’s time at MMIS — learning from other cultures first-hand, as part of real, collaborative projects.
